Reducing the Burden of Preventable Disease Through Community Health Interventions

MAATRAM Health Trust is striving to reduce the preventable disease burden in India through its strategic community health interventions. This burden is largely driven by chronic diseases and non-communicable conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, anaemia, thyroid, and PCOS. When they are not diagnosed in a timely manner, they turn into serious complications which could have been avoided through early screening and timely interventions.

Health Initiatives

Free Clinics

We regularly organize free clinics where individuals and families can gain access to expert health guidance and clinical services at zero and subsidised costs. Through these free clinics, we empower individuals to get screened for chronic diseases and access early interventions.

Preventive Healthcare Awareness

Through our awareness programs, we empower individuals and families to identify health risks before they become crises. Our programs simplify complex medical information, helping people identify early warning signs of chronic and common conditions and seek timely medical attention.

Preventive Screening Camps

We regularly organise screening camps in rural and semi-urban areas surrounding Bangalore aimed at taking healthcare and advanced clinical tools to those who need them the most. Through proactive screening, we enable underprivileged individuals to get timely health interventions.

Community Health Programs

Unlike one-time screenings, our community health programs are designed to create sustainable, long-term health shifts within underserved communities in and around Bangalore. We move beyond finding the disease to managing health through continuous support and peer-led initiatives.

Educational Support

Educational Resources in Regional Languages

We believe that language should never be a barrier to one’s health and wellbeing. That is why, we develop and distribute health information in regional languages to ensure everyone at the grassroots level can access the right information and make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.

Adolescent Health Education

Building a healthier tomorrow starts with children and adolescents. We conduct school- and community-based health education programs with targeted information to young boys and girls about healthy habits, personal hygiene, nutrition, lifestyle choices, and overall wellbeing.

School-Based Health Camps

We regularly collaborate with local schools to engage with young minds on the importance of health, hygiene, and nutrition. In addition to offering them age-appropriate health information, we also conduct screening and health camps, providing early interventions for students.

Women’s Empowerment

Women’s Health Education Programs

Plagued by social stigma and gender biases, women’s health and wellbeing often get overlooked. MAATRAM Health Trust is committed to breaking these stigmas and bringing focus to women’s health and wellbeing through targeted programs and reliable health information.

Menstrual Hygiene Initiatives

Young girls, especially from unprivileged backgrounds, seriously lack access to reliable information on menstrual health and hygiene. This predisposes them to several risks including reproductive and urinary tract infections. Through our menstrual hygiene initiatives, we are eliminating period-related stigma.

Food Donation

Food Donation

Balanced nutrition is at the core of good health. Even today, several underprivileged children, elderly people, and families do not have access to nutritious food. At Maatram, we are working to change the status quo through our food donation drives.
